Canyon Creek Rural Fire District provides the residents of Canyon Creek, Birdseye, and Marysville with prompt and professional fire and rescue services. Founded in 1958, the team of brave firefighters at Canyon Creek Rural Fire District is proud to serve our community, it is our priority to be an integral part of keeping you safe.

Come be a part of the Team, Learn Life Saving Skills, Fire Behavior, Wildland Fire, Learn to drive an array of Fire apparatuses, and be hero to the Canyon Creek and neighboring Communities!

Josh Dalzell

Assistant Chief - Firefighter

Josh was raised in Helena and graduated from Capital High. An Army Combat Medic with 17 years in military, with having served one deployment as a combat medic.  Currently a full time firefighter at the Fort Harrison Veterans Affairs Fire Department since 2022.  A father of three and married to an amazing woman.

Jonathan Cunningham

Chief - EMT/Firefighter, Training Instructor

Crystal Cunningham

Captain - Firefighter, EMS Instructor

As our primary for Medical for the department Crystal comes to us with an array of credentials; Paramedic 20yrs, Former Flight Nurse/Medic, certified ER Nurse 7 yrs, and EMS Lead Instructor for EMR & EMT.

John Keller

Firefighter, EMR

John Keller joined the CCRFD department 81 in the fall of 2021. Since that time he has completed Firefighter 1 training, Wildland Fire Training and CPR training. He has participated in structure fire calls, wildland fire calls, gas leak calls and medical calls, but prior to joining the department, John had NO firefighting experience so he has quite a lot to learn. John has been a full time member of the community since 2018 and, prior to moving to Canyon Creek, John lived in Denver for many years and is a former Michigander.

Kai Bauer

Firefighter, REAF/READ

Kai joined the CCRFD in Sep of 2019. He previously working as a wildland firefighter with the Forest Service from 2013-2016, 2021-Present. He has previous volunteer experience with a rural fire crew and as a Wilderness First Responder.  Prior military service, Army Veteran.
